The Simple Things in Life…

are often the best. So often I’m so busy that I forget to take time to notice all of the little things around me. The sunshine on the leaves. The bunnies outside of my window. The smell of dinner cooking. The building blocks of life are the often overlooked pieces of your day, that you often pass over without a second thought.

But think about it for a moment.

It’s often the little things that people do for you that make such a difference. Like the little note in your mailbox from a dear friend or when your apartment-mate washes your dishes for you.

Why do the little things make such a difference in the big picture of life? Maybe because they’re the important things. Granted, your job, homework, and that huge report due next week need to be done. But there is so much more to life than those things. Imagine your life without all those simple things in it. It would be a pretty bleak life.

So take a moment to smell the roses today. Delight in all the little gifts that you’ve been given, and give some to those around you. Because it’s the simple things in life that sometimes mean the most.

Sunday Smiles (08.03.2014)

It’s the weekend 🙂 which hopefully means you have a little more time to relax than you do during the week. You may also end up spending an inordinately large amount of time online. I mean, keeping up with Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter, Bloglovin’ could be a full-time job. And that’s just the social media sites. The Gift of Giving

Look what happens when a machine says thank you to people 🙂

It’s really easy for me to get caught up in all that I need to do in a day, and doing things for others tends to come second in my priorities. Videos and stories like these though remind me of how powerful and important others are as well. The people that used that ATM were average people that you would see on the street. But their stories are so touching (I mean, I cried a little just watching the clip). You could brighten someone’s day with a simple bouquet of flowers, or maybe even a coffee drink. And wouldn’t the satisfaction of seeing someone so joyful be worth it? It doesn’t have to be a huge gift like going to Disney, but do something to thank someone else, and see the joy spread.
